Exercise
Wall-supported calf raise with optional resistance band loading under the feet for ankle strength and balance.
Setup instructions
Stand facing a studio wall at arm's length. Place both hands lightly on the wall at shoulder height. Stand on the centre of a resistance band with one end in each hand at the sides. Position the feet hip-width apart with the band under light tension.
Breathing cues

Movement steps
- 1Inhale to prepare in standing.
- 2Exhale to rise onto the balls of the feet against band resistance.
- 3Pause briefly at the top with the ankles aligned and the legs active.
- 4Inhale to lower the heels with control.

Common mistakes
Rolling the ankles outward or inward; leaning heavily on the wall; bouncing at the top; using band tension that pulls the body off balance; holding the breath.

FAQs
Is Wall Resistance Band Calf Raise suitable for beginners?
Yes. The wall provides balance support and the band under the feet adds gentle loading. Keep the rise range comfortable and the band tension light.
What muscles does Wall Resistance Band Calf Raise work?
The calves drive plantar flexion against band resistance while the core and glutes help maintain upright balance at the wall.
What is Wall Resistance Band Calf Raise good for?
It builds ankle strength and calf endurance with wall support before free-standing calf raises, reformer footwork, and chair calf work.
