Exercise
Teaser preparation with the feet on a studio wall to build core control and balance before full teaser.
Setup instructions
Lie supine on the mat with the hips close enough to the wall to place both feet flat on it. Extend the legs to a comfortable angle on the wall with feet hip-width apart. Reach the arms toward the ceiling with the shoulders relaxed. Engage the core to keep the low back supported on the mat.
Breathing cues
Exhale to lift. Inhale to hold. Exhale to lower.
Movement steps
- 1Inhale to prepare in the start position.
- 2Exhale to curl the head and shoulders off the mat and reach the arms forward.
- 3Lift toward a balanced teaser shape while keeping the feet steady on the wall.
- 4Inhale to hold briefly with steady breath.
- 5Exhale to lower the trunk with control and repeat.
Common mistakes
Using the wall feet to pull the body up; collapsing through the chest; letting the low back arch off the mat; holding the breath; extending the legs lower than control allows.
Safety notes

FAQs
Is Wall Teaser Prep suitable for beginners?
It is best treated as an intermediate progression. Master wall hundred and roll-back before attempting the partial teaser shape.
What muscles does Wall Teaser Prep work?
The deep abdominals lift and stabilise the trunk while the hip flexors hold the legs on the wall and the shoulders maintain reach alignment.
What is Wall Teaser Prep good for?
It builds core control and balance in a supported teaser shape before mat teaser and reformer teaser progressions.
How is Wall Teaser Prep different from mat Teaser?
Wall Teaser Prep keeps the feet on the wall for leg support, reducing load on the hip flexors. Mat teaser requires full unsupported leg balance in the V shape.
