BeginnerSaveSign in to save Resistance Band Arm Circles

Seated or kneeling arm circles on the mat with a resistance band held between the hands for shoulder and arm control.

Setup instructions

Sit or kneel tall on the mat with the spine long. Hold a resistance band between the hands at shoulder width with light tension. Extend the arms forward at shoulder height. Engage the core and soften the shoulders before beginning.

Breathing cues

Exhale on the effort phase. Inhale between circles.

Movement steps

  1. 1Inhale to prepare with the arms extended forward.
  2. 2Exhale to circle the arms down, out, and up against band tension.
  3. 3Complete several circles in one direction with controlled tempo.
  4. 4Reverse the circle direction with equal range.
  5. 5Keep the trunk stable throughout.

Common mistakes

Shrugging the shoulders during the circle; arching the low back; using a band that is too strong; making circles too large; holding the breath.

Safety notes

Keep the circle range modest and the shoulders relaxed. Stop if shoulder pinching or sharp upper-back discomfort appears.

FAQs

  • Is Resistance Band Arm Circles suitable for beginners?

Yes. Seated or kneeling with the band at shoulder width makes the circle pattern easy to scale. Keep circles small at first.

  • What muscles does Resistance Band Arm Circles work?

The shoulders and upper back control the circular arm path while the deep core maintains upright trunk organisation.

  • What is Resistance Band Arm Circles good for?

It builds shoulder stability and arm endurance before reformer arm circles, hug a tree, and mat arm series.
