Setup instructions

Anchor a resistance band securely behind at ankle height. Stand facing away from the anchor on the mat with feet hip-width apart. Loop the band around the ankle of the working leg. Hold a stable support if needed and engage the core before beginning.

Breathing cues

Exhale to kick. Inhale to return.

Movement steps

  1. 1Inhale to prepare in standing.
  2. 2Exhale to lift the knee and extend the leg forward against band tension.
  3. 3Keep the standing leg soft and the hips level.
  4. 4Inhale to bend the knee and return the foot to the floor with control.
  5. 5Complete one side before switching legs.

Common mistakes

Leaning backward to counter the band; kicking higher than balance allows; locking the standing knee; using momentum instead of control; holding the breath.

Safety notes

Keep the kick height at hip level or below until balance feels steady. Stop if hip pinching or sharp low-back discomfort appears.
