Knee Stretch Knees Off
IntermediateKneeling knee stretch with knees hovering off the carriage for an intense core and hip stability challenge.
Setup instructions
Kneel on the carriage close to the footbar with hands on the bar. Round the spine into a C-curve and draw the navel firmly in. On an exhale, hover the knees just above the carriage surface and hold.
Breathing cues
Exhale to hover and push. Inhale to return.
Movement steps
- 1From the hover, exhale to push the carriage back with control.
- 2Inhale to pull the carriage in, maintaining the hover and the C-curve.
- 3Keep the knees close to the carriage throughout without touching down.
- 4Lower to rest between rounds to prevent fatigue overriding form.
Common mistakes
Losing the C-curve in the hover; dropping the knees to the carriage; letting the hips rise above the shoulders; using momentum instead of control.
Safety notes
This is a high-demand variation. Confirm knee stretch round back is controlled before progressing here. Avoid with wrist or knee issues.

FAQs
Is Knee Stretch Knees Off suitable for beginners?
No. Knees Off is an intermediate progression. Both the round back and arched back variations should be controlled before lifting the knees, as the hover dramatically increases core and wrist demand.
What muscles does Knee Stretch Knees Off work?
Knee Stretch Knees Off places exceptional demand on the deep core and hip flexors to hold the hover. The glutes contribute to the carriage drive, and the wrist extensors work harder to support the hover position on the footbar.
What is Knee Stretch Knees Off good for?
Knees Off is a high-intensity core exercise that builds full-body isometric endurance. The hover position creates a challenge similar to plank but with the dynamic addition of carriage movement, making it uniquely demanding.
