Exercise
Lat pull with a resistance band anchored high on a studio wall for upper-back strength and shoulder organisation.
Setup instructions
Anchor a resistance band securely to a studio wall above shoulder height. Stand facing the anchor and hold one end of the band in each hand with arms extended overhead. Step back until the band has light tension with the arms long. Stand tall with feet hip-width apart and the core gently engaged.
Breathing cues
Exhale to pull. Inhale to return.
Movement steps
- 1Inhale to prepare with the arms extended overhead.
- 2Exhale to pull the elbows down toward the rib cage against band tension.
- 3Keep the trunk upright and the chest open.
- 4Inhale to return the arms overhead with control.
- 5Repeat without shrugging or leaning backward.
Common mistakes
Shrugging the shoulders on the pull; leaning backward for momentum; letting the ribs flare; using excessive band tension; rushing the return.
Safety notes
