Exercise
Standing row with a resistance band anchored on a studio wall to strengthen the upper back and reinforce upright posture.
Setup instructions
Anchor a resistance band securely to a studio wall at chest height. Stand facing the anchor and hold one end of the band in each hand. Step back until the band has light tension with the arms extended. Stand tall with feet hip-width apart and the core gently engaged.
Breathing cues
Exhale to row. Inhale to return.
Movement steps
- 1Inhale to prepare with the arms long.
- 2Exhale to row the elbows back, drawing the shoulder blades together.
- 3Keep the trunk upright without leaning backward.
- 4Inhale to release the arms forward with control.
- 5Repeat with even tempo.
Common mistakes
Shrugging the shoulders on the pull; leaning back for momentum; letting the ribs flare; using excessive band tension; jutting the head forward.
Safety notes

FAQs
Is Wall Resistance Band Row suitable for beginners?
Yes. The wall anchor keeps setup consistent and the standing row pattern is easy to feel. Band tension can be adjusted by stepping closer or farther away.
What muscles does Wall Resistance Band Row work?
The upper-back muscles draw the elbows back while the core keeps the trunk upright. The shoulders stay organised throughout the pull.
What is Wall Resistance Band Row good for?
It strengthens the upper back and reinforces upright posture using a simple wall-and-band setup before reformer rowing work.
