Exercise
Forward or diagonal band walk on the mat with a looped band for glute activation and hip control.
Setup instructions
Stand on the mat with feet hip-width apart in a partial squat. Place a looped resistance band around the ankles or just above the knees. Keep the chest lifted and the core gently engaged. Soften the knees and prepare to step forward at a slight outward angle.
Breathing cues
Exhale to step. Inhale between steps.
Movement steps
- 1Inhale to prepare in the partial squat.
- 2Exhale to step one foot forward and slightly outward against band tension.
- 3Bring the trailing foot forward to meet without losing band tension.
- 4Continue stepping with controlled tempo for several reps.
- 5Reverse direction or walk back to the start with the same form.
Common mistakes
Standing too upright; letting the knees collapse inward; rushing the steps; using a band that restricts smooth movement; holding the breath.
Safety notes
Keep the step range modest until hip control feels clear. Stop if knee pain or sharp hip discomfort appears.
