Standing side kick with one hand on a studio wall for balance support and hip alignment feedback.
Setup instructions
Stand sideways to a studio wall within easy reach. Place the hand closest to the wall on it at shoulder height for balance. Position the feet hip-width apart with weight on the leg closest to the wall. Grow tall through the spine and engage the standing glute gently.
Breathing cues
Exhale to kick. Inhale to hold. Exhale to lower.
Movement steps
- 1Inhale to prepare in standing.
- 2Exhale to lift the outside leg to the side to a comfortable height.
- 3Pause briefly with level hips and the toes pointing forward.
- 4Inhale to hold with light fingertip support.
- 5Exhale to lower the leg with control and repeat before switching sides.
